Prince Albert firefighters took an opportunity to educate three children on fire safety after the trio was found lighting fires outside of a drainage ditch last night.

At roughly 10:30 p.m. the P.A. fire department responded to a call on the 1400 block of 28 St. E.

The three children, under 10 years old, were taken back home after they were found lighting paper with a lighter according to Fire Chief Jason Everitt. No damage or injuries were reported. Everitt added staff members took the opportunity to educate parents and the children about the dangers of playing with fire.

He said if responding firefighters feel an incident causes damages or warrants investigation or charges, files are handed off to the Prince Albert Police Service for follow-up.
