Three vehicle collision claims three lives near Lloydminster

Three people are dead following an early morning crash involving two vehicles on Highway 16 approximately five km East of Lloydminster.

Maidstone RCMP said collison happened after 3 a.m. Friday morning when a heavy duty, flat deck truck collided with a minivan in the eastbound lane.

Two of the occupants of the minivan were confirmed deceased at the scene. Both victims were female aged 35 and 37. A third occupant, a 53-year-old female later succumbed to her injuries. The fourth and final occupant, a 32-year-old female, was airlifted to hospital in Edmonton. Her condition is unknown. All of the occupants of the minivan are from Edmonton.

The truck was reported stolen on Thursday from the Lloydminster area. The occupant(s) fled the scene prior to police arriving. One suspect, a 26-year-old male was located in the area and is in custody.
