The province has vowed to continue funding community policing initiatives in Meadow Lake.

In a media release, the Government of Saskatchewan confirmed its yearly contribution to the local RCMP detachment. The province has granted $770,000 to fund seven existing staff positions for 2017-2018.

The grant supports enhanced community policing throughout the city in the areas of chronic offenders, youth education programs, illegal drug activity, and traffic safety.

The provincial government funds 128 municipal police positions and policing initiatives across the province.
